Site Support Nurse Specialist -ref. 1208-SB
The Duodopa Nurse Specialist would be responsible for teaching the subject or caregiver about the correct deployment of the LCIG system, possibly conducting Site Initiation Visits, providing subject support at home, as well as several other activities.
This will include practical training of Gastroenterologists / Proceduralists, as well as nurses and other members of the multi-disciplinary healthcare team on the LCIG pump system for Movement Disorder handling. Another key element to the role is the provision of education on how to operate the LCIG system relative to the optimal titration for the subjects.
In addition, the Duodopa Study Specialist (DSS) will need to support the site by answering and solving various practical questions that could occur from study healthcare personal in support of subjects /relatives. The DSS will also be expected to provide technical support on the logistical elements of pump deployment and PEG tubing.
This role will also require elements of on-site support and education together with a considerable level of accessibility to patients and care givers. The DSS will be required and empowered to make rapid autonomous decisions in various situations in the course of acting as an efficient “problem solver” and added-value [interim] member of the clinic staff.
The site is located at the Ottawa Hospital in Ottawa, Ontario. Based on the study requirements a ½ FTE is expected to be needed for several months and for the position to begin late summer or early fall.
Requirements:
Registered Nurse, University educated (RGN/RMN/RSCN or equivalent), medical physician or other with appropriate experience as accepted in accordance with local country requirements, whichever is of the highest stand
Experience of clinical trials and nursing experience with endoscopy Movement Disorder (Parkinson’s) preferred but not mandatory.
Fluency in French and English.
